"I'm Getting Murdered In The Morning" at Beaverton High School Oct 28 & 29th

Beaverton Jr./Sr. High Drama in Beaverton Michigan will host its annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre, “I’m Getting Murdered in the Morning” by Lee Mueller, on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 and Saturday, Oct. 29 at the at the Beaverton Activity Center (BAC). Performances start at 6 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

During the garter toss at Brenda and Eddie's Wedding Reception, a mysterious man falls dead on the dance floor. Luckily the bride's father -the wealthy Harold Montague -invited Damage control expert Mr. Parker to the event. Parker tries "spinning" the murder as "nothing to worry about" but Society columnist Mary Berger insists "something be done".

Something like - hold the presses because this could be the "Society Scandal" of the year. Not only was a man shot during the garter toss but it seems the mysterious Dead Man has ties to both the Groom and Bride's family. Secrets that both sides do not wish to reveal. Nonetheless, with some persuasion of Mr. Parker, the reception continues as planned and the Murder Mystery takes a back seat. For a while.

Tickets are being sold in advance for food preparation reasons with no refunds available. The public is welcome and the cost is $15 per adult and $10 for children (10 and under with an adult).
For ticket/dinner information contact Becky Miller at 989-246-3341 or 989-329-8348. Sorry, no ticket sales at the door. Come join the fun, and enjoy dinner out with family and friends. Tickets are on sale until Saturday, Oct. 22.

Alden Christian Theatre in Alden NY Presents "Murder Me Always" in October

ACTS - The Alden Christian Theatre Society, 1470 Church St. in the Village of Alden, will present a dinner theater production of “Murder Me Always” by Lee Muller, a comedy murder mystery show, on Fridays and Saturdays October 7 & 8 and 14 & 15.

The dinner will begin the evening at 6pm. Tickets are $25 for the dinner and the show and must be purchased in advanced to reserve seating. The dinner entrée choices of pork tenderloin or chicken cordon bleu will be served with salad, potato, vegetable, or vegetable lasagna and salad. All meals include desserts and drinks. The comedy murder mystery will begin at 7:30.

During a very bad performance of "Murder Me Always", an actual murder takes place off stage. The director is shot. The "fake" play comes to a screeching halt and a "real" murder mystery begins. It seems a "Murder Mystery Murderer" is on the loose and has struck again. Luckily, a 1940s pulp fiction type gumshoe has staked out the audience and rises to the occasion to begin an investigation. Could it be that one of these very bad actors is really a very bad person? Will this "real" murder mystery be any better than the fake one? Is art imitating life? Is the play really the thing? Don’t miss your chance to figure out who the murderer is while laughing all evening.

Limited tickets are also available to those who cannot make the dinner but still wish to see the show. Tickets must be purchased in advance for the 7:30 show $12 general admission and $10 for seniors/students. Call ACTS to purchase tickets for dinner and to reserve tables or for tickets to see the show at 937-7770.

"An Audition For A Murder" in October in Iowa and Wisconsin

"AN AUDITION FOR A MURDER" will start off October in Waupun Wisconsin October 7th and 8th, presented by the Waupun Community Players on the Waupun City Hall Stage.

So tell us about this Audition show thing. OK  The thing is  (the plot)   A Theatre group is holding auditions for a Murder Mystery called "Death of A Disco Dancer".

Hey, isn't that a song by The Smiths?  Yes. Yes it is.

Anyway,

All of the typical actors show up to audition. There is Mia Monahan - the militant method actress, Amber Frost- the ditzy Drama queen, Chad - the energetic actor who never seems to get a part in anything, Alan- the accomplished Theatre Major who works at a fast food place in the mean time. Troy May - the ego-centric actor who always gets a role and his gorgeous assistant Tantanya who holds his imported bottled water and carries his Portfolio. And last but not least, Mrs. Needleman and her precious daughter Julie , fresh from the Little Miss Pumpkin Pageant finals.

The auditions get underway without too many problems, well a few.. Well, all right, you see, the thing is.. the Director Vivian Vinderlou and assistant director Reed Moore have a bit of the problem with "script". The problem is they don't have enough copies for everyone. And the bigger problem is they don't actually have a finished script.
Jim Culter- the playwright arrives in the nick of time with a few more copies and a few more finished pages just as one of the actors mysteriously dies. As luck would have it, Jim has brought Inspector Bonnie Brauvera along to the auditions to serve as Technical advisor for the play. Perhaps the investigation into this "mysterious death" will inspire the playwright and help him finish the play. After all, there is a read-through on Monday.

On October 28th and 29th  The Carousel Theatre of Indianola will also present the play at the  La Vida Loca Winery
  • Address: 7852 Jesup Street, Indianola, IA 50125
Doors open at 5:00 with the show to begin at 6:30
Oct 28th Menu $45.00 per person

Oct 29th Murder Mystery Appetizer Show $38.00 per person

But I don't live anywhere near the upper midwest region. Couldn't I just... I don't know... Read it or something?
Why yes, Yes you can.

Monaghan Pink Ladies "Audition For A Murder" and a Wonderful Charity

At the Garage Theatre  in Monaghan Ireland, not to be confused with Monaghan somewhere else, the Monaghan Pink Ladies will be presenting "An Audition For A Murder" on Sept 29th and 30th.

Cast Member Julie-Ann sent a message to me letting me know the Pink Ladies do a play every year to raise money for charity. This is their 3rd year.

" This year our chosen charity is a group that helps Irish families to repatriate their loved ones who die abroad. In our small town we have had a few families who have had to avail of this service and last year when the Irish students got killed in the California balcony collapse, the Kevin Bell Repatriation fund really helped with all the costs and red tape."
It's always nice to hear from groups that your play went over well and the audiences loved it. It's even better to hear that your work is being used to help in a worthy manner or cause.

"A Murder Has Been Renounced" Premieres Here and There

My newest murder mystery comedy "A Murder Has Been Renounced" will make it's debut to both sides of the world .. literally. In June in White Stone Virginia, USA  and then in July in Queensland Australia.

The play centers around Detective Nick Dashell and his wife Darla (previously appearing in the play "Irritation To A Murder")  the couple find themselves stranded in a remote area. The car has broken down. They seek shelter in  large estate populated by some very odd ball characters such as a sarcastic maid named Deidre and a shady gentleman named Captain Trucage.

Only seeking to use the phone, they learn the lines are down and the roads are washed out due to the storm. It that were not enough, they also find themselves involved in some mysterious events: Mrs Ludos' necklace is stolen and gunshots were heard.

Should they hang out and help solve the mystery? Sure, why not? After all, they can't leave. Perhaps stranger than the inexplicable occurrences of the evening, are the actual guests they find at the estate. Everyone is acting very oddly and using really bad British accents. And when one of the guests is found strangled in the kitchen, no one seems to be alarmed except for Nick and Darla. Typical.

The Lancaster Players in White Stone Virginia will present the World Premiere at the Playhouse  361 Chesapeake Drive (Rt 200) in White Stone on   June 10-11 & 17-18 & 23-24-25 - Evenings 7:00PM Social Hour – 8:00PM Curtain  and June 12 & 19 - Matinees 2:00PM Social Hour – 3:00PM Curtain

The Maleny Players in Maleny Queensland will present the play on 16th, 17th, 23rd and 24th July, with an extra performance on Wednesday 20th July at the Maleny Playhouse located on the Maleny Showgrounds

His friend and literary agent Lenord Elmore presides over the wake along with Fred's widow Joyce. Also in attendance are all of Fred's old friends: ex-police Chief Wambaugh and officer Francis. Danny Runyon, a reformed "wise guy" and his doll (date) Peaches Marie Crabtree. Agatha Fletcher, a news reporter from the Associated Wire. There is also a faction of the 'Fredrick Finnegan Fan Club' at the wake: president Stephanie King, vice-president Deanna Koonz and secretary, Clyde Barker.

The wake starts off in a traditional nature with good old Irish toasts and amusing stories about Freddie and his life, but the circumstances of Freddie's death keep coming into question. The one guest who would appreciate answers is Fred Finnegan himself. Problem is, only the nerd-ish Clyde Barker has the gift to "hear" dead people. Can Freddie use Clyde to find the answers he needs? Was Fred murdered by someone at the wake? He's dying to find out.

"A Plot Of Murder" by Lee Mueller in Meyersdale PA Feb 19 & 20th

Meyersdale Community Players in Meyersdale PA will present the 16th annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater Production at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 19 and 20 at the Meyersdale fire department social hall 202 Main Street.

This year’s presentation is “A Plot of Murder” by Lee Mueller. This play centers around a Neighborhood Board meeting in Irwinville, West Virginia, and its assortment of council members and concerned citizens.
Lou Braunhorst, friendly neighbor and conspiracy theorist, has information that the quiet streets will soon be re-zoned for commercial development. (but he also believes that Black Helicopters are transmitting signals through his satellite dish that put a "liberal spin" on his T.V. programs.
But Lou's concerns do have validity. (The re-zoning, not the helicopters.) There is a 'secret' real estate scheme to institute "Eminent Domain" over the subdivision to make way for a Family Fun Pizza Parlor and a Strip Mall.
Councilman Ratcliff who knows more about the neighborhood 'take-over' than he wishes to reveal, can't stay around because he is participating as an Elvis Impersonator at Elvis-O-Rama and must leave.
Before Elvis can 'leave the building', he turns up dead in the restroom. Was it foul play or the ultimate Elvis impersonation? Special Secret Agent McManshon is quick to arrive and conduct an investigation. It seems Secret Agent McManshon knows a lot about this plot of murder, but unfortunately, it's a secret.

"Death Of A Doornail" in Wichita (Sold out)

The comedy murder mystery, "Death Of A Doornail" by Lee Mueller will play the Wichita Theatre at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23 and Jan. 30, located at 10th and Indiana in Wichita Kansas.
Plot:
Eccentric millionaire Albert Doornale has invited his close friends to his estate, including his ex-wife Abigail, his fiancée Candy Bombay and his childhood friend from the lower East Side, Salvatore Carbone. Everyone arrives at the estate greeted by the grumpy butler and cutlery-carrying cook. The only problem is, Albert is not there,. $35, includes dinner. 723-9037 or wichitatheatre.com.
As of this writing both performances have sold out.

When the Wichita Theatre announced that its new dinner theater series would debut with the over-the-top, audience-participation murder mystery "Death of a Doornail," producers knew the response would be good.
"We just didn't know it would be this good," director Spencer Williams said. The theater sold out all 75 tickets for each of the shows Jan. 23 and 30 (at $35 a ticket) in three days.
"Death of a Doornail" drew both singing and nonsinging actors, Marshall said. "It's a comedy, and it's very funny. Our actors are pretty much hams. They love stepping out of the bounds of script, and this gives them the opportunity to be as funny as they want to be."
American playwright Lee Mueller's 1998 "Death of a Doornail" begins with wealthy Albert Doornale missing, and his over-the-top guests may have had something to do with it.
"The characters and the setup are traditional; the events that happen are not," Williams said. "There are definitely lots of laughs."
