Project Theatre presents "Murder Me Always"

Project: Theatre will be presenting "Murder Me Always" by Lee Mueller  November 13 at 7pm and 14th at 2 and 7pm.

Mount Holyoake college is located in South Hadley Massachusetts. Project Theatre is a student-run organization dedicated to theater of all kinds, showing everything from Shakespeare to student-written plays.

"Murder Me Always" - plot: During a very bad performance of "Murder Me Always" , an actual murder takes place off stage. The Director is shot. The "fake" play comes to a screeching halt and a "real" murder mystery begins. It seems a "Murder Mystery Murderer" is on the loose and has struck again. Luckily, Detective Joe Mamet, a Raymond Chandler Pulp type gumshoe has staked out the audience and rises to the occasion to begin an investigation. Could it be that one of these very bad actors is really a very bad person? Will this "real" murder mystery be any better than the fake one? Is art imitating life? Is the play really the thing?

The second part will be set in a neighboring nightclub and will feature a variety of songs written in the style of 1940s jazz. The production’s goal is to provide students with an opportunity to participate in the theatrical arts in several ways, while exposing them to musical theatre repertoire that they may not otherwise encounter.

Several students will be acting in the murder mystery, while others will be singing and dancing in the second half of the show. Students will also be assisting with lighting and sound, helping backstage or playing in the pit band.

The Nov. 7 performance will include a pre-show dinner of either chicken piccata or vegetable lasagna. Tickets for this performance are $20 each or $140 for a table of eight. Tickets for this show must be reserved in advance. People attending this show are encouraged to wear 1940s attire to the “Germantown Jazz Club.” The Nov. 8 performance will not include a dinner, and tickets will be sold at the door for $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
